Operations Lead in Radiotherapy Physics

Applicants must be a registered Clinical Scientist with significant experience, including supervising staff and implementing policy. They must be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and skills in all areas of radiotherapy physics.

They will manage the routine activities of clinical scientists within Radiotherapy Physics and lead service development within the department in collaboration with the Head of Radiotherapy Physics and Principal Physicists. They will also act as lead MPE in an area appropriate to their experience as well as working routinely in all aspects of the clinical service.

The Arden Centre is equipped with five Elekta linacs, an orthovoltage treatment machine, Elekta HDR brachytherapy and RayStation treatment planning system. All of our linacs are equipped with CBCT and SGRT is available on two machines. We have a modern portfolio of techniques including a growing SABR service.

The Radiotherapy Physics department has active research collaborations with the University of Warwick and Coventry University with which the post holder will be encouraged to participate. We are an accredited training centre at all levels of medical physics including HSST.

The Arden Centre is located on the University Hospital site at Walsgrave which is on the edge of historic Coventry with convenient transport to the City and easy access to rural Warwickshire, the M6 and the M69 motorways.

**1. Management**:
1.1. To manage the operational activities of staff within Radiotherapy Physics, supporting the Head of Radiotherapy Physics in recruitment, selection, definition of job roles, appraisal, career development, training, retention, sickness absence, grievance and discipline.

1.2. To implement the operational policy and service development within the department.

1.3. In collaboration with the Head of Radiotherapy Physics to manage the non-staff budget of the department.

1.4. In collaboration with the Head of Radiotherapy Physics to manage and plan the staff budget of the department.

1.5. To advise Consultant Oncologists and senior managers on all aspects of the operational delivery of radiotherapy including the introduction of new techniques into routine clinical service.

1.6. In collaboration with the Head of Radiotherapy Physics to manage the procurement of supplies and equipment required by the department.

1.7. To take a lead role in the development and maintenance of the Radiotherapy Physics Quality System to the standards of ISO 9000.

1.8. Participate in multidisciplinary leadership team activities, collaborating closely with radiography and clinical oncology leads.

1.9. Deputise for the Head of Radiotherapy Physics as required.
