The Data & Digital team's remit includes delivering the next phase of the digital sandbox initiative and designing and executing the FCA’s TechSprint programme.

- TechSprints

are events that bring together participants from across and outside of financial services to develop technology-based ideas or proof of concepts to address specific industry challenges. These events help us to shine a light on issues and expand the discussion and awareness of potential solutions.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?- Advise on the datasets that would be required for the digital sandbox- Aid in the creation synthetic data assets that will be used within the digital sandbox for events such as, but not limited to, TechSprints.- Identify and curate external partnerships with key stakeholders to help with the delivery of the digital and data’s work programme.- Work with internal stakeholders to understand their priorities and develop a pipeline of work for the digital sandbox platform.- Speak at key events (internal & external) to evangelise the innovation departments work programme.- Work closely with the emerging tech and regtech / suptech teams to understand current trends in technology and how they can be applied to the digital & data teams work programme.- Advise on enhancements to the digital sandbox platform features.- Coach and mentor junior members of staff within the Digital & Data and RegTech team on current trends in technologies.- Help foster a team culture that encourages inclusiveness and diversity of thought.- Creative Freedom: we are a team that values new ideas and approaches, you will have time and support to develop new ideas and the backing to implement them.- Exposure to a network of international regulators, industry experts, leading technologists, innovative firms and senior FCA leadership- Opportunity to shape and develop an internal work programmes across a variety of areas and stakeholders within the FCA- Stimulating, innovative and experimental work to solve the biggest challenges facing financial regulation and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the organisation- Exposure to new ideas, opportunity to increase your knowledge and understanding of the new technologies and how they can be used in an innovative financial services ecosystem.- A dynamic and diverse team of colleagues who are passionate about their work and believe in open collaboration- Work in the public interest which: helps to change our approach to regulation; makes us more effective at protecting 40 million UK consumers; secures long term economic growth by promoting an industry that represents 12% of UK economic output

Which minimum, essential & desirable skills are required?

Minimum- Excellent communication and engagement skills with experience of working within a fast pace environment.- An ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience, sometimes in front of large audiences.- An excellent understanding of Innovation in financial services.- An understanding of data analytics including the tools and techniques used to work with data.- An understanding of different type of technologies and how they can be applied to solve real world problems.

Essential- Knowledge and experience working in the financial services industry, particularly working in data and technology.- The ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.- Strong leadership qualities to help maintain a positive and diverse culture within the team.

Desirable- Understanding and experience of using data reporting tools- An understanding of regulatory innovation programmes both domestically and internationally.- A working knowledge of human centred design techniques.- Managing a project from end-to-end.
