**Spencer Clarke Group** are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Gloucestershire to assist with the appointment of a**Principal Building Surveyor**on an interim contract.

**Contract Details**

**Pay Scale - Inside IR35** - £28.50 - £32.50 p/h (negotiable dependent on experience)

**Location** - Hybrid working - Site / office visits required

**Contract Length** - Minimum 4-months. Possibility of extension

**Key Duties**
- Under the direction of the Property & Facilities Manager, the post holder will be the Council’s principal source of professional advice on the condition and maintenance of the corporate estate ensuring that the Council achieves value for moneyand can deliver its services and meet corporate objectives
- To be responsible for preparing and submitting reports to enable informed decisions to be made in the best long-term interests of the council.
- Critical to the effective running of the estate will be maintenance planning and the post holder is responsible for condition surveys and preparing and updating a 30-year programme in respect of building maintenance requirements.
- Analysing client’s requirements for alterations and improvements to buildings will be required and the post holder will provide professional advice to them concerning their proposals, including management of expectations and ensuring compliancewith legislation.
- To manage delivery of the capital repairs & maintenance (R&M) programme across the corporate estate, including schools and procuring and managing minor capital projects and providing a specialist technical/professional role on major projects.
- To manage two Building Surveyors and work in close conjunction with the Building Services and Energy Manager and the Facilities Manager to ensure a comprehensive and co-ordinated service is delivered across the estate.

**Experience Needed**
- Educated to degree level or equivalent and hold corporate membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
- Experience and ability to line manage professional staff
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Previous experience working for a Local Authority
