Clinical Research Fellow

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, clinical research fellow to play a key role in delivering a clinically focused translational research project within the Oxford BRC “Digital Health from Hospital to Home” research theme. You will have the opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team of world-leading biomedical and clinical researchers on cutting-edge digital health projects that will deliver measurable patient benefit. The role is within the University of Oxford’s Critical Care Research Group (led by Professor Peter Watkinson), based in the Kadoorie Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the job will involve literature review, design and delivery of research interventions, patient recruitment, and associated data collection and data analysis, across the clinical projects within the BRC Theme.
Your duties will include delivering care to patients admitted to hospital in line with experience and specialty, deliver novel research data in accordance with established timelines set between you and the Principal Investigators and adapt existing, and develop new, scientific techniques and experimental protocols to support research. You will plan, manage, and conduct an agreed research project taking direction from the senior clinicians and other colleagues as appropriate, work closely with the research team/s to develop research questions within a specific context, conduct individual research, analyse detailed and complex qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources, and generate original ideas by building on existing concepts and undertake other duties in the department from time to time as determined commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of this post, and any other reasonable request.
It is essential that you are clinically qualified with current registration with the GMC with a license to practice, successful applicants will be required to hold an honorary clinical contract with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and must ensure that they have fulfilled all the criteria required and have evidence of ability to undertake processing of routine patient datasets. As well as clinical skills and competence appropriate to current level as evidenced by recent revalidation or annual review of competence progression and excellent communication skills and fluency in English, as evidenced by seminars or presentations.
It is desirable to have evidence of successful project management within a multi-disciplinary team, an understanding of the guiding principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for research and peer-reviewed in high-impact journals (preferably as first author).
This is a part time role 20% FTE starting immediately until 31/12/2024.
**The post is part time 7.5 hours/20% FTE for a fixed term contract.**
