The Portering team are seeking a self motivated competent supervisor, to provide line management to our Portering team.
- Supervising a team of staff on shift. Allocating, delegating and monitoring tasks in accordance with the specifications. Ensure that all day-to-day tasks are completed at the end of the shift but where necessary hand over to the next shift co-ordinator.
- To prioritise and allocate various tasks to the appropriate staff via the use of computer/radio system as appropriate, ensuring correct procedures are followed.
- To ensure that standards and response times are met and if necessary updating tasks with reasons for delay.

Organise roster to cover absence and annual leave

- Responsible for notifying On-Call Facilities Manager of a major incident situation and in their absence allocating duty cards and acting as Bronze Control until the Manager arrives on site.
- To act as a centre of advice on issues out of hours.
- Ensuring the collection and delivery of medical records during day time clinics and assisting in request out of hours.
- Organising the collection and delivery of emergency medical equipment out of hours, ensuring EBME records are recorded.
- Ensure all goods in and materials management stock are delivered to wards and departments and placed securely away.
- All staff remove waste in accordance with schedules.
- Linen supplies are delivered to ward/departments cupboards and any excess is returned to the linen room.
- To provide support and basic counselling to staff as required. Counselling staff on return from absence in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- To carry out return to work interviews with staff after a period of absence.
- Completion of DATIX incident forms and accurate record keeping.
- Reporting to the estates help-line any defective machinery.
- Ensure that staff are trained in the use of both machinery and equipment before use.
