The Suffolk Police and Crime Panel is looking to appoint an enthusiastic person from Suffolk to become an independent co-opted member.

The purpose of the Panel is to assist the Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) by providing independent and constructive challenge to support him in his statutory duties for setting the direction of policing in Suffolk and holding the Suffolk police force to account.

Membership of the Panel is an interesting role, and together Panel members reflect the breadth of communities in Suffolk, with elected members representing local authorities across Suffolk working alongside two people who are co-opted.

The Panel is looking for an independent co-opted member to join who has a track record in community involvement, can represent a diverse cross-section of public views and concerns, and has a keen interest in policing, crime prevention, victim support, community safety and the criminal justice system.

The time commitment would be, on average, one day a month including preparation time and attendance at meetings. Meetings are generally held during normal working hours either in person in Ipswich, Suffolk, or online. Travel and subsistence expenses will be paid, as well as an allowance for your time of £70 per meeting attended. Training will be provided to help you carry out your role.
