**Job summary**:
As part for the Defence Land Safety Regulator (DLSR) HQ Compliance team you will:

- Support the Compliance Manager to review DLSR documentation and processes and make recommendations for improvement.
- Provide information and advice to various stakeholders on changes in UK legislation and NATO policies that impact the British Armed Forces.
- Horizon scan for emerging technological advances, legislative trends and industry standards.
- Evaluate the compliance to legislation of military land-based equipment; communicate technical and legal information to a broad spectrum of audience.
- Thereby improving Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) across Defence.

The post requirements are Full Time, however part-time or job-share can be considered as long as full-time cover can be achieved

**Job description**:

If so, this role will offer you the opportunity to work within the Defence Land Safety Regulator (DLSR), as part of a diverse and multi-disciplined team of circa 70 people. DLSR is responsible for the regulatory framework, certification and assurance of ground based military vehicles and equipment. These are complex tasks, which is why we need the right person to join us.

As a growing organisation we have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and proven individual to join us to help support 4 crucial regulatory departments of our business. As the Compliance Officer you will be instrumental in providing the organisation with an understanding of how current and future legislation may impact on our core functions relating to adventurous training, fuel and gas installations, land-based equipment and movement and transport.

We are on the lookout for a confident communicator who enjoys collaborating with others. No two days will be the same and you will get involved with a mixture of multi-faceted tasks.

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent place of work) and working from home as a personal choice, with management approval and to meet business needs. If you are successful, your permanent duty station and any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post

While not essential, the following is desirable:

- Experience of the safety case approach, possibly gained by working within a regulatory body such as the health and safety executive, civil aviation authority or the office for nuclear regulation.
- Experience in policy writing.
- An understanding of Defence, it's delivery, structure and corporate governance.

**Our Department**: The Defence Land Safety Regulator (DLSR) regulates the acquisition and use of equipment that operates on land, the safe conduct of Defence Movement and Transport activities, the licensing of all Defence fuel and gas installations worldwide and all Defence Adventurous Training centres. DLSR consists of circa 70 personnel and comprises of four Sub-Regulators: Adventurous Training Safety Regulator, Fuel and Gas Safety Regulator, Land Systems Safety Regulator and Movement and Transport Safety Regulator. Your position will sit within DLSR HQ.

**The Organisation**: The Defence Safety Authority (DSA) is responsible for the regulation of Defence Health, Safety and Environmental Protection, operating under a Charter from the Secretary of State for Defence (SofS). The DSA provides independent assurance, directly to the SofS, that the law is complied with and the policy on safety in Defence is being promoted and implemented whilst Defence activities are conducted. This regulation is achieved through proportional and appropriate evidence-based assessment of the activity that supports Defence’s operational imperatives.
