Summary Would you like to work in a team leading the maintenance of our diverse range of historic and modern buildings on our let estate ? We are looking for an individual who can bring their experience of building maintenance with a particular interest in historicbuildings, coupled with their people skills to lead this work at our Kingston Lacy Estate in Dorset.

You’ll be based out of our well equipped works yard on the Estate and lead a small team of craftsmen.

The post would suit someone from a building surveying background, housing association background or significant site management experience.

What it's like to work here The management of our let estate property, together with the relationships we have with our tenants, underpins our national, circa £50m annual rental income and is absolutely essential to the delivery of our land and property conservation work. We’ve recentlyredefined our strategy and made some revolutionary changes to significantly improve how we carry out our work in Estate Management and this role is an important part of that change.

The National Trust is the UK’s biggest private landowning charity and you will support us with the maintenance of the properties it owns and protects.

The portfolio in Dorset includes over 200 let cottages and houses, 20 farms, over 20 holiday cottages and commercial lets including pubs.

You will need to have knowledge and experience of traditional building techniques which will include cob, stone, brick, lime, thatch, slate and stone tiled roofing.

What you'll be doing As the Let Estate Building Supervisor for Kingston Lacy you will be part of a team to deliver and implement high standards of maintenance and repair of our Let Estate properties. You’ll line manage a small team of in hand tradespeople and liaise with externalcontractors and tenants so that expectations are managed and regular updates are communicated.

You’ll manage a delegated budget through confident use of our property IT system and ensure all resources are used in the most efficient way including activity in the workshop.

Managed by our experienced Senior Building Surveyor you’ll work collaboratively with other members of the Let Estate team especially the Lettings and Estate Management Officers in Dorset and 3 other Building Supervisors in Wiltshire and West Dorset to ensurethe appropriate standards of care, maintenance and compliance are achieved. Working with them to plan the workload for the coming year to ensure work is delivered in a timely manner. You’ll also work with other colleagues across the organisation.

You’ll be proactive in your approach to risk management, working with your team and external contractors to ensure risk assessments are undertaken and all work is compliant with the relevant legislation and policies.

Who we're looking for - A good understanding of repair and maintenance good practice
- Strong understanding of risk management and compliance requirements in relation to Let buildings and structures
- Ability to instruct, supervise, and direct contractors and NT staff to manage and implement agreed work programmes/projects relating to built structures and services
- Competent to manage delegated budgets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling strong relationships and networks to be built and maintained externally and internally
