The Public Services Group is at the heart of the Treasury’s work to secure strong and sustainable public finances. We manage public spending of more than £250 billion across key public services and departments, including health, education, the police, the criminal justice system, local government, housing, defence and the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
We do this by working with other government departments, ministers, and other Treasury teams to ensure that spending plans support high quality public services and provide value for money for the taxpayer.
Our roles offer a range of opportunities to work with senior leaders in other government departments, as well as helping to ensure the effective delivery of public services that so many people rely on.
**About the Team**
**Treasury Officer of Accounts Team** is the oldest team in HMT and works at the centre of the Treasury to shape and advise on all matters of government spending. As a result, we get involved in a wide range of policy issues, including many of the most sensitive and highest profile decisions taken across government.
The team also oversees Royal Finance matters in relation to the Crown Estate, Royal Duchies and Royal Household.
We work closely with senior officials and other Treasury teams as well as other government departments and act a source of counsel and support for Permanent Secretaries across government.
Our role also means we have a unique position at the interface between government and Parliament. We manage the relationship with the National Audit Office and the Public Accounts Committee. As custodians of _Managing Public Money_, Treasury Officer of Accounts Team works to ensure public funds are managed to high standards, in line with the expectations of Parliament.
Within the team, we work flexibly, to support business resilience and team members’ working patterns, as well as provide development opportunities across the team.
**About the Role**
Head of Royal Finances is a unique role, leading the branch responsible for both overseeing the Sovereign Grant and other royal finance issues, as well as acting as shareholder and sponsor to the Crown Estate The post holder will work very closely with the Deputy Director, who reports directly to the Permanent Secretary on these issues.
The Crown Estate (TCE) is a £15bn business, managing lands and properties owned by the Crown (including the seabed) and pays its revenue profits - £3 billion in the last ten years - to the Exchequer.
