Purchase Ledger Assistant

Thompson & Morgan is known as the expert in flower and vegetable seed market, but over the last few years we’ve grown to also include plants, bulbs, fruit, garden furniture - in fact everything you could want to create a stunning garden for your home. We generate over 2 million orders per year marketing our products via our website, catalogues, press, Amazon, EBay and home shopping TV channels as well as have a very strong garden centre presence.
We’re looking for a motivated individual to join our Finance team as a Purchase Ledger Assistant. You will be responsible for the ensuring that purchase invoices are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
**Examples tasks include**:
- Communication and resolving payment queries/issues with suppliers
- Ensuring the Purchase Ledgers are accurately maintained and process deadlines are met
- Processing invoices to ensure they are appropriately authorised, coded and matched to a purchase order in a timely manner
- General administrative tasks
- Proactive in chasing internal staff for approval of invoices and resolving invoice queries
- Confident in managing suppliers who are chasing payment
- Experienced in Purchase Ledger processes and functions
- Excellent administration, organizational and planning skills
- Ability to function as part of a team in addition to working without close supervision
- A good communicator with a good level of English (both written and verbal)
- Capable of multi-tasking in a fast paced environment and prioritising as required
- High attention to detail and an orderly approach to processing
- PC literate (including MS Office package, Excel especially)
Hours of work are typically 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday but flexibility is important especially during our peak trading period
