JOB PURPOSE Perform a range of organisational, supervisory and dispensing functions in order to provide efficient and quality clinical technical services to patients, wards and clinics within the Trust. Duties will be predominantly concerned with the organisation and direct supervision of clean room staff and activities; including assembly, preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. Stock control and clerical duties may also be assigned to this post. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Able to plan, organise and prioritise work activities within clean rooms Proven experience in the supervision of people and processes Good communication skills, the post holder will require to communicate work requirements to staff using tact and persuasive skills as necessary Able to evaluate and make judgements on facts and situations Experience and knowledge in good manufacturing and processing procedures Experience and understanding of working under the guidance of standard operating procedures and good practices guidelines, some of which may require a good degree of theoretical knowledge to ensure quality outcomes are achieved Good literacy and numeric skills Good basic computer skills Knowledge of stock control systems 7.

CORE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING Good processing/manufacturing and hygiene practices Guided by SOPs and good practices and understands required outcomes of such quality assurance systems Customer care Stock control Health and Safety & COSHH SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS There is an expectation that the post holder will on occasion be required to travel to other sites within the trust to attend training/briefing sessions, meetings or support other dispensaries as required. The Trust shuttle bus service is available for all sites.

The post holder is required to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. Adhere to associated hygiene and clothing requirements of individual work areas. This may involve: Absence of make-up Removal of jewellery Wearing of protective clothing including hoods, facemasks and gloves. Working in a confined space for up to periods of 3 hours at a time Prepares cytotoxic medicines under COSHH guidelines i) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Accuracy, dexterity, manipulation and a degree of speed in the preparation and dispensing/assembly of medicines against written prescriptions/requisitions.

This involves drawing up using syringes and weighing small amounts of raw materials. Physical effort required if lifting/moving boxes of fluids or dietary products. This can be on a daily basis and can weigh up to 10kg. There may be an infrequent need to handle goods up to 20kg.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**: The post holder is allocated to work in one of the pharmacy sections. They may on the odd occasion encounter aggressive behaviour and most staff have attended the violence and aggression workshop. Any problems would be passed on to a more senior member of staff. Staff receiving goods into Pharmacy Stores will work with changes in temperature eg receipt of order into cold store, working on or near open loading bays, working outside with fork lift truck.

The post holder will be required to receive, assemble, prepare/dispense cytotoxic medicines in accordance with COSHH and SOPs. When working in aseptic dispensary the post holder is required to work in a confined environment where aerosols are used eg alcohol sprays for disinfection. Staff follow COSSH guidelines and SOPs.
