**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: This list is not exhaustive Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy Explaining treatment procedures to patients Measurement of height and weight Urinalysis Measurement of blood pressure, temperature, and pulse routine reviews Lifestyle & sexual Health screening New patient registration Health check Health promotion advice NHS Health checks Year of Care reviews for Long-term conditions Glucose tolerance testing B12, Shingles, Pneumonia, flu injections & nasal (following appropriate training) Ordering stock Room cleaning Re-stocking GP rooms Ear Care (following appropriate training) Spirometry (following appropriate training) Preparing and disposal of equipment and Assisting clinicians with minor surgery and sexual health clinics Demonstrates proficiency when undertaking routine and opportunistic screening Recognises changes in the patients observations which must be reported and acted upon Enables patients to access appropriate members of the practice team Acts as a chaperone Appreciates and advises patients of the principles of health living and provides relevant health promotion literature for patients Documentation of patients smoking status and referral to other team member as appropriate Assists clinicians in the emergency management of patients (e.g. CPR, anaphylaxis, haemorrhage fits and faints and hypoglycaemia) Attends annual resuscitation training and anaphylaxis update Applies infection control measures within the practice according to practice, local and national guidelines Advises patients on correct procedures for specimen collection Assists and educates patients while using the practice equipment Awareness and recognition of the signs, symptoms and categories of child abuse; understands the importance of observation, documentation and communication. Also aware of appropriate referral procedure Recognition and awareness of appropriate referral mechanisms for family violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse and addictive behaviour Undertake other clinical activities identified by practice management/GP Partners, in accordance with written guidelines The duties and responsibilities are expected to change as the role develops There is a requirement to be flexible to provide cover for holidays and sickness PERSONAL/ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Demonstrates current evidence-based approaches to patient care in practice by following guidelines, protocols, and policies Maintains set standards of organisation in treatment/consultation rooms Takes appropriate action if standards are not being met Organises own work schedule within constraints agreed with Management/Lead GP Identifies personal training needs and discusses them with Management/Lead GP Co-operates and contributes to practice research projects/audits Attends teaching sessions/training courses and protected learning afternoons Participates in practice appraisal scheme and clinical supervision Recognises potential areas of conflict, preventing where possible and reporting to management/Lead GP or other senior members of staff if unable to resolve Undertakes any other duties appropriate to the grade as required by the practice, after undertaking a period of training and supervision and when competence is confirmed. blood and urine) Occasional exposure to aggressive behaviour Frequent use of the computer screens Data Protection: Ensure security in accordance with the Data Protection Act. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation.

When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured, internal lights are off, and the alarm activated.
