Operational Logistics (Op Lo) operates on a Hub & Spoke model. The Hub providing centralised logístical expertise whilst directing out and fielding in requirements via the Op Lo Spokes. Op Lo Spokes are the Op Lo face to the frontline customers and will field all customer requirements and enquiries.

The regional Spoke teams are OpLo’s face to front-line operational commands. Spoke teams work closely within their regions, ensuring current and future operational requirements are captured and progressed with the Hub, and escalating issues impacting business continuity, in accordance with the Spoke Service Agreement.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that both protects and enhances the UK economy. Our work is varied and rewarding, attracting people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

As the Spoke Officer, you will have line management responsibility and will lead your team in providing excellent customer service. You will build and maintain strong working relationships across your regions, other Spoke colleagues and the OpLo pillars.

The Spoke Officer role may not always be clearly defined, due to the diverse and challenging tasks assigned to the team. An ability to work independently to find solutions to most problems will therefore be essential in supporting the day-to-day delivery of regional frontline requirements.

To achieve this, a high level of engagement is required across internal and external stakeholders, with excellent working relationships with Ports being key to successful delivery.

There is an expectation to undertake port visits that may include overnight stays due to the geographic diversity of regions.

Work may be reactive, such as providing logístical support in response to critical incidents; the team have supported the Afghan repatriation scheme, the Ukraine refugee response, Sudan repatriation and the Covid-19 programme. During events like these, individual and team workload may be more demanding. The Spoke officer will need to be able to balance the needs of the day-to-day business against a heavier workload and lead their team in reacting quickly and flexibly to meet any additional requirements.

**Person specification**:
Duties include:

- Planning team activities and workloads, reacting to additional pressures by redistributing tasks and/or highlighting potential issues to Higher Officers; and supporting the wider team when required.
- Reviewing and updating team task tracker, weekly.
- Collating regional performance issues with suppliers, feeding back to the Contract Monitoring Team as well as the National Uniform team.
- Leading meetings with operational regions as well as external/internal stakeholders.
- Collating regional requests for new vehicles - working with regions to ascertain requirements and feeding back to the Higher Officers/National Fleet team.
- Ensuring all requests for data are collated and returned to requester to meet deadlines.
- Reviewing the Estates Service Requests database monthly, escalating issues where required.
- Responding to regional estates-related queries, liaising with the Estates team and/or escalating to Higher Officer where required.
- Supporting the One Home Office Transformation programme by leading by example, championing best practice, gathering customer feedback and providing input and support to proposed changes and suggestions to drive continuous improvement.
- You may be required to provide additional support over and above what is defined within the job role specification; such as providing logístical support in response to critical incidents and supporting other regional spoke teams/areas of the business dependant on demand and priorities.

**Essential Criteria**
- Able to communicate with confidence to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Confidence to manage upwards with senior leaders.
- Ability to handle competing priorities across multiple timelines with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to negotiate with other teams or organisations beyond immediate team to help deliver positive outcomes.
