The SEND service co-ordinates assessments, reviews and provision for children and young people in Hertfordshire who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. The Front Door team focuses on working with families and professionals whilst undertaking the statutory assessment process.

We’re looking for professionals with some knowledge of the Statutory Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment process, excellent customer service and IT skills. Alongside the ability to work with and support staff to meet competing deadlines.

The role of the CIAO is to be responsible for supporting the early stages of the statutory assessment process, ensuring that families have relevant and purposeful information and advice from weeks 1 through to 12 or when all advice is received. The CIAO needs to engage with professionals across education, health and care to support the decision making and assessment process, including;
- To receive, record and check all new requests for assessment immediately on receipt and communicate with a range of professionals to seek outstanding information as required.
- To contact families and advise them of the statutory EHC assessment process and help them to identify any local support networks or universal support offers that may be available to them.
- To use a framework to triage requests considering the EHC needs assessment pathway.
- To input and maintain accurate and comprehensive database records as required and processing Requests for Education Health Care Needs Assessments from parents, carers and educational professionals.
- You will strive daily to maintain, develop and improve professional, supportive working relationships with parents, education settings and services in relation to EHC needs assessment
- To work collaboratively with professionals across education, health and care services to ensure effective case management, integrated working practice and successful outcomes for children.

- We are looking for you to be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with some knowledge of SEND and experience of working with families.

**Additional Information** We are looking for you to have**:

- Excellent organisation skills including an ability to work independently, systematically and work with conflicting demands.
- Excellent customer service skills using verbal and written communication methods.
- The ability to undertake a variety of administrative tasks, operating within departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Together with self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Some travel to meetings may be necessary.

This is a high pressure, interesting and varied role where you have to juggle daily with competing demands and priorities. Working closely with parents, families and professionals to ensure children and young people’s special educational needs are understood and well supported.
- Please note there will be induction training period up to 12 weeks upon starting with us, with a requirement of presence in the office for a significant part of that, although with some flexibility as required and as agreed with your manager and in line with the needs of the service / training delivery. Following that, we ask all staff to work from the office 2 days a week. During the other 3 days staff work remotely and carry out any school meetings / visits.
