**MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**JOB TITLE: Receptionist**

**Salary: £11.44**

**Closing date: 19/04/2024**

**REPORTS TO: Office Manager/Supervisor for all routine tasks, Practice Manager or Operations Manager for all other matters**

**Job Summary**:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Be able to use your initiative to resolve minor tasks and requests.

**Responsibilities**:
**General Duties**:

- Opening the Premises when needed
- Receiving and routing patients on arrival
- Welcoming visitors and directing them to appropriate places
- Answering enquiries/explaining procedures/making/cancelling appointments
- Receiving and recording requests for prescriptions/home visits
- Filing and extracting records as required
- Receiving and passing on messages for GPs and team members
- Dealing with/taking payment for all administration forms
- Registering new/temporary patients
- Computerising records/test results/information
- Scanning of all relevant documentation onto EMIS clinical system
- Attending staff meetings and training periods
- Preparing and posting mail
- Ensuring incoming colleagues know about any unresolved or urgent matters
- Additional tasks
- Covering all duties of absent members of staff and being flexible with regards to taking of annual leave
- Ensuring that your work area is kept tidy at all times
- Keeping the workplace in a state of orderliness
- To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and update as necessary
- Filing post in medical records
- Fax and photocopy as requested
- Have working knowledge of telephone system
- Ensure building security
- Any other duties of a clerical/administrative nature that may be required from time to time

- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
- Reporting potential risks identified
