Ipswich, United Kingdom East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Do you thrive on a challenge? Are you methodical with the drive to succeed? Have you got the determination and desire to make a real difference to the lives of people in East Suffolk and North Essex?

Due to a recent promotion within the department an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the General Surgery team at Ipswich hospital as an Operational Co-ordinator.

This opportunity will allow you to play a major role in the continuing development of service delivery for the benefit of our patients where care and compassion are central to everything we do.

You will have the opportunity to further develop your operational and management skills in a supportive and innovative atmosphere, including staff and business management. This is your chance to become a key part of a large, innovative and forward thinking organisation.

You will work alongside the service manager and an engaged team of dedicated healthcare professionals in a fast pace and challenging environment to ensure a high quality service is provided to our patients.

This post is fixed term or secondment until 29th August 2023. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.

Proposed interview date; 26th January 2023.

You will be responsible for ensuring that day to day activity runs smoothly, liaising with multiple stakeholders both within and externally to the Trust. In addition you will manage the administrative team within general surgery, supporting them to move patients through their treatment pathways within appropriate timescales. You will be accountable for theatre and clinical utilisation and overseeing the medical staffing rota. You will need to have a working knowledge of NHS performance standards pertaining to 18 week referral to treatment targets as well as cancer treatment standards.

You will also encourage high performance from the staff, with the aim to maintain a high quality comprehensive service.

You will ideally have a proven track record of meeting deadlines and experience within a healthcare setting. You will also need to be a skilled communicator with dogged determination.

Whilst we are ideally looking for someone with relevant experience an individual with demonstrable transferable skills would be considered. A developmental role would be considered for the right applicant.

You must be a ‘team player’ working in a way that encourages high performance from other staff, with the aim of maintaining efficiency within the department. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual for this position.

If you would like to be part of this dynamic team, we want to hear from you.

One of the largest Trust’s in East Anglia, East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) provide hospital and community health services to people living across a wide geographical area. We deliver care from two main hospitals in Colchester & Ipswich, six community hospitals and in patients’ own homes. You will be joining a team of almost 12,000 amazing colleagues providing care to approximately a million people.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (if applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a range of services including mental health support. We offer a range of flexible working opportunities.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which do not work or cause time delays for our staff and patients.

To support our employees to achieve their career aspirations you may be eligible to obtain a qualification via an apprenticeship. All successful applicants will be required to undertake a skills review to facilitate this. For full details please see the attached Apprenticeship Handbook.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge then we are keen to hear from you.
