Torre Abbey is Torbay’s most historic building complex dating from 1196. An ancient scheduled monument set within 17.8 acres of gardens and parkland. It’s an accredited museum owned by Torbay Council, home to a regionally important collection it’s been a centre of religious and artistic expression and hospitality for 800 years.

What you'll be doing:
You’ll be managing the Commercial offer at Torre Abbey. You’ll love leading a team, including the Commercial Co-ordinator and café team and with your passion for delivering a customer service and the ability to identify new income opportunities through retail, events and the café. You’ll help deliver an excellent experience for all our visitors at Torre Abbey. You’ll always consider how we can do it better, more efficiently, and how we can deliver an even better offer for all our visitors. We want to hear your ideas: we want to know what else we can do to get our customers talking and tasting. From mouth-watering food, to attentive service, to little touches that make a big difference.

You'll be part of the Duty Management team supporting operational need on a rota basis, with some weekend and evening working required.

You'll be supporting the Torre Abbey Manager with financial growth, reporting against agreed performance indictors and with the delivery of commercial objectives in Torre Abbey's Business Plan.

**Skills**:
Essential:

- Well-developed skills in management and leadership, team-working, communication, and organisation.
- Ability to demonstrate effective motivation in achieving and exceeding targets. With the ability to motivate, lead and achieve results through others.
- Ability to demonstrate effective and proven skills in financial management and reporting methods.
- Able to demonstrate strong customer service ethos and teach/mentor this in other staff members.

**Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.**

**Knowledge**:
Essential:

- Knowledge and understanding of back-office systems including back office tills processes.
- Effective knowledge and understanding of event management.
- Effective knowledge and understanding of stock control methods.

**Experience & Qualifications**:
Essential:

- Experience of working in the hospitality industry or other relevant industry experience.
- Experience in creative commercial development which enhance sales targets and promotes income generation.
- Proven experience of handling difficult people and situations to avoid any conflict resolution with composure and professionalism.
- Ability to demonstrate effective and competent IT skills including - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
