An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to work within the Pharmacy Distribution Team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

This post is based in the historic City of Lancaster with good rail connections and close to the M6 motorway link.

You will be working in a busy Pharmacy store, receiving and issuing stock items and providing safe, timely, appropriate, cost-effective and high quality pharmaceutical services.

Main Duties

To adhere to legislation, national and local standards and procedures in all tasks performed.

To work as a member of the pharmacy team to provide safe, timely, appropriate and high quality pharmaceutical services covering reception, purchasing and distribution

To acquire with training, a working knowledge of the pharmacy computer system in order to use as required following departmental polices and procedures.

To maintain stock and consumable levels ensuring stock rotation within designated areas in accordance with procedures

To perform general tidying and non-domestic cleaning duties in the department as needed, ensuring the safe disposal of waste.

Awareness of COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health) regulations for the storage handling and disposal of pharmaceutical products

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
