The Planned Care Division is led by the Divisional Medical Director, Divisional Director of Operations and Divisional Director of Nursing using the triumvirate model of leadership. The Key Services delivered by this Division are Emergency and Elective Surgery, Intensive Care and Burns all of which are delivered through the busy but well organised and supported wards and departments.

Due to recent promotion within the nursing leadership team this exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual with multiple skills and an appetite for delivering a first class nursing service to join the team in one of the UKs most successful and progressive NHS Foundation Trusts. We are looking for a senior nurse to join our team on the Chelsea and Westminster Site. The role entails overseeing and leading our adult and children inpatient ward as well as outpatients.
- The post holder will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high quality care and the patient experience in their areas through proactive clinical and professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels within their clinical area of responsibility. The post holder will need to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence based, compassionate nursing care, and that the workforce is managed efficiently and effectively.
- The post holder will ensure ward sisters have adequate support to enable them to focus on their core responsibilities.
- The post holder will contribute to the on-going implementation of the Trust’s nursing, midwifery and corporate objectives, developing the service and nursing roles to meet the evolving needs of patients and families.
- The individual will undertake the key functions of the Matron Role ensuring the patient experience in wards/ departments is of the highest possible standard at all times with particular emphasis on the provision of dignified and compassionate care which is delivered in a safe and clean environment.
- The post holder will work with the Divisional Nurse and the Senior Management Team in developing and implementing a divisional strategy to achieve the Trust’s objectives and ensure that effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained.

Management

To provide professional leadership and line management to senior Nursing staff including ward and departmental Sisters & Charge Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Practitioners
To ensure that all direct reports have an annual appraisal with periodic reviews, and have a current personal development plan (PDP).
To develop and lead a recruitment and retention strategy for Nursing and Support Workers in collaboration with the Divisional Human Resource Team, Divisional Nurse and departmental leads.

To participate in the recruitment of staff to meet the needs of the service, in liaison with ward and department leads, and the Divisional Human Resources team as appropriate
