Within NHS Tayside we are expanding opportunities for Health Care Support Workers to develop and progress into the role of an Assistant Practitioner. These are new, exciting and innovative roles supported with education and training from both the NHS Tayside Practice Development Team and Dundee College. Successful applicants will be supported to complete a Professional Development Award SCQF level 8 at Dundee College.
As an Assistant Practitioner you will be working at the heart of our multidisciplinary teams delivering high quality, patient-centred care. You will be supervised and report to a Registered Nurse. This will require you to be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, both verbally and in writing, to share our commitment to maintaining high standards in everything we do, and to demonstrate that you can work effectively within a team that behaves in accordance with our values.
We are seeking to recruit people who are committed to delivering outstanding patient care, taking pride in what they do and keen to learn and develop. A caring professional manner and excellent communication skills are essential. You must work well in a high-pressure environment and have the ability to adapt to challenging situations.
Your initial induction program will be followed by a number of professional development opportunities, including clinical skills and on-going comprehensive online learning hub.
The post will be based in ward 1 & CCU cardiology in Ninewells Hospital. Cardiology provides inpatient care which is patient-centred and aims to maximise each patient’s potential for recovery which is supported by an excellent Multi Disciplinary Team.
CCU is a busy 9 bedded level 2 area with close relationship to cardiac cath lab & wd 1 is a busy 30 bedded ward looking after the hearts of tayside, Perth & Angus

Hours of work are: 37.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work a variety of dayshifts, including weekends.
