**Permanent, Part Time (21 hours per week)**
**Would you like to start a career within Mental Health? Are you looking to make a return to this area of work?**
Peterborough Mental health Service is now seeking individuals to join us on a permanent contract, working 21 hours per week (varying between 8.30am - 8.30pm, including some weekends) who would like to develop or continue work in our sector. We support individuals who have mental health issues to maintain their independence and connect with their community. Our team of Support Workers provide a friendly contact for those who may be experiencing isolation or have support needs.
**The vacancy**
In your role as a Community Outreach Support Worker - Mental Health, you will be travelling across Cambridgeshire (Huntingdon, Yaxley, Sawtry, Warboys, March, etc) to our service users, providing a vital service within the community working with individuals with Mental Health requirements. Being a main source of support and point of contact, our goal here is to help improve their quality of life, their ability to sustain their tenancies and the achievement of independent living.
**You will help to improve their lives by**:
- Maximising the independence of people who require support and enabling real choices in how they lead their lives
- Providing housing related support such as supporting people to access their benefits entitlements; pay their rent and household bills; secure appropriate accommodation; access employment, volunteering and training opportunities.
- Assisting people with shopping, supervising medication, and prompting clients to do domestic chores. Social inclusion support to build confidence in accessing the community.
**In addition to the above you would be responsible for**:
- Maintaining accurate records of support provided, maintaining risk assessment and support plans.
- Working with partner agencies such as Peterborough City Council, NHS services and Cambridgeshire County Council.
**About You**
You’ll be comfortable in challenging negative beliefs and provide positive behaviour support, and always demonstrate a supportive and caring nature. It’s crucial to display good communication and listening skills, with a strong ability to provide advice to help our customers.
Please note, it is an essential requirement to hold a full driver’s licence as you will have access to a fleet of pool cars in order for you to carry out your role.
**How to apply**
**Vetting Requirements**
Naturally working with our customers we need to complete pre-employment checks before you join us. This role is conditional upon receipt of two satisfactory references (one from your current employer). We also need you to tell us what you have been up to as a minimum over the past 5 years in terms of employment history. We recognise, welcome and support that everyone’s employment history is unique and can be different. This could include carer duties, travel, seeking work, education, employment, training, or volunteering.
**Equal Opportunities**
As an equal opportunities’ employer, Longhurst Group is committed to the equal treatment of all current and prospective employees and does not condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.
