Due to the expansion of our successful Mockingbird Programme in South Tyneside we are looking for a second Mockingbird Liaison Worker to join our Fostering Service. This is an exciting employment opportunity within the Fostering Service for a practitioner who can build great relationships and is passionate about resilient family networks for our children and young people.
We are looking for someone who is able to work under their own initiative as well as part of a collaborative team. The post requires flexibility as it also includes evening and weekend working.
South Tyneside Council has partnered with The Fostering Network to deliver the Mockingbird Family Model. This is an innovative extended family model that aims to improve the stability of fostering homes for children and strengthen the relationships between carers, children and young people, fostering services and birth families. We currently have four Mockingbird constellations and are due to launch a fifth.
The Mockingbird Liaison Worker will be well organised and have the skills to put the Mockingbird Family Model into practice with fidelity.
The Liaison Worker will work with key partners to develop a shared understanding of and commitment to the Mockingbird Model. The Liaison Worker will be joining a highly experienced and stable team of Supervising Social Workers as well as our current Mockingbird Liaison Worker.
The Liaison Worker will have a lead responsibility to recruit Foster Carers to the constellations, and work with families in the constellation to create an extended family community for children and young people. They will provide effective communication about the offer and work of the Mockingbird Constellation and ensure that the Fostering and social work teams work effectively with the constellation and Hub Carer. They will provide supervisory support to Hub Home Carers.
The postholder will be responsible to the Fostering Manager and will support the wider work of the Fostering Service.
