JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to grow our Land Referencing Team in Birmingham and currently have an opportunity for an Apprentice Land Referencer to join us and work towards completing a Level 4 qualification (equivalent to a foundation degree). You will get to work alongside and learn from our experts enabling you to earn a salary whilst you are studying for a nationally recognised qualification. You will undertake a supervised programme comprising of on-the-job training and college teaching for a period of 30 months.

As an Apprentice Land Referencer you will have the opportunity to work with high-profile clients supporting the collation of evidence, documentation and information for acquiring authorities to obtain land for the purposes of large development or infrastructure projects. You will be involved in some of the UK’s most complex, iconic and challenging infrastructure projects across various sectors including transport (aviation, rail, highways), utilities, housing, redevelopment, retail, environmental protection, commercial, private and public sectors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

When an apprentice starts with us, we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects.

The initial role of the successful apprentice will be to support and assist our Land Referencing Team on a wide variety of projects. In your daily work as a Land Referencer, you will have the opportunity to learn new skills using bespoke systems and GIS. You will be fully supported to interact with the broader project delivery team and a variety of external stakeholders. Even though most of our work is office-based, there is often a requirement for site visits for identifying occupiers, posting of statutory notices, completion of records of condition and land access negotiation.

The apprenticeship would be full time, with four days spent working at AECOM and one day per week spent with the National College for Advanced Transport & Infrastructure.

Professional accreditation is a key component of your development and also important for AECOM’s business success, so we will also fully support you towards accreditation with the relevant professional institute.

ADVANCE’ is a 2.5 year blended learning programme promoting collaboration across all AECOM disciplines, ensuring that our apprentices network with and learn from other apprentices across the UKI business. This includes:

- Induction to introduce you to AECOM and some of our senior leaders, and to give you a detailed overview of the AECOM business and ‘ADVANCE’
- An Outward Bound week to develop some core behavioural competencies
- Training events to develop your skills & knowledge around project delivery, managing yourself, presentation skills, and work winning
- Online learning, and on-the-job technical development
- Mentoring within your specific team
- Support to become a STEM Ambassador and to make use of the 2 paid CSR days AECOM provides each year

Minimum Requirements

No work experience is necessary. REQUIREMENTS

This position is ideally if you are in your final year or have completed your A-Level (or equivalent) or a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma and you can demonstrate the following:

- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Mathematics & English
- Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
- Creative, practical, adaptable and enthusiastic
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organize parts of projects
- English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings and reports

Preferred Qualifications
- Some work experience or shadowing in an environmental organisation would be an advantage
