The role

Aberystwyth University (AU) is looking to appoint a Stakeholder and Public Engagement Officer who will assist the Stakeholder and Public Engagement Manager in supporting the strategic science programme through stakeholder and public engagement activities. The ability to speak and communicate in Welsh will be essential for this post.

Based in the Institute on Gogerddan Campus, the role will require working across multiple teams and with senior colleagues, assisting to enhance our reputation and identity as a research-led institute, aligning to a new structure that maps onto the organisational development and culture objectives enabling the Institute to adapt to the changing priorities for agricultural research by promoting ambition, confidence, integration, inclusivity and collaboration in all areas of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange.

The post holder will assist the Manager in the implementation of a stakeholder and engagement strategy that will support the Institute to achieve its strategic goals. This role will be responsible to the Stakeholder and Public Engagement Manager working alongside the Institute Development Team to deliver the strategy and activities of the Institute.

**This role is funded through an Institute Development Grant awarded by BBSRC.**

Appointments are normally made within 4 - 8 weeks of the closing date.

What you’ll do
- Work as part of a team to strengthen and increase awareness of the Research Institute.
- Co-ordinate the delivery of the Institute Stakeholder and Public Engagement Strategy.
- Create and update content on website and social media platforms, including written, video and audio content.
- Work with the University’s Research, Business and Innovation and Communications and Public Affairs teams as required.
- Create and assist with the development of publications, social media, and digital campaigns to facilitate communications internally and externally.
- Co-ordinate and support the Manager with physical and virtual events in relation to stakeholder and public engagement activities.
- Co-ordinate and attend at public events on and off campus, providing stand management.
- To be available to work extended hours or on weekends if required.
- Work independently and collaboratively, proactively identifying areas of need, resolving problems, or escalating as the needs arise.
- Contribute to the evaluation and reporting of BBSRC strategic stakeholder and public engagement activity to internal and external audiences.
- To be aware of the latest developments and trends in the field of stakeholder and public engagement communications and activities
- Ensure the effective use of resources, monitoring of progress and delivery on time in full to budget.
- Contribute and manage robust systems of recording and reporting of project information, archiving of digital files and printed media, maintaining requisite evidence, and supporting information as required for audit purposes.
- Support and provide advice to research-active staff, and early career researchers with professional public engagement support.
- Support engagement with interactions with strategic industry partners and associated supply chains.
- Ensuring that correct procedures are followed for all purchases, taking into consideration procurement rules, Aberystwyth University Financial Regulations and UKRI/BBSRC guidelines.
- Establishing links, working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s departments and outside bodies as required to facilitate reporting through higher management structures on key activities.
- To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
