**Role**:
You will be researching safe human-AI teaming. This will include developing and evaluating different models of human-AI teaming for both AI-based decision support systems (e.g. for clinical diagnosis) and AI-enabled robotic systems (e.g. autonomous delivery robots). Topics of interest are:

- Joint cognitive systems
- Human oversight, situational awareness and effective AI-human handovers
- Human-centred AI explanations
- Biases that affect the safety and performance of human-AI teams
- Function allocation and cohesion within human-AI teams

This is an inherently interdisciplinary research area and will require you to work closely and effectively with other team members and be able to explain your research clearly and precisely. You will evaluate your research through in-depth case studies, requiring close collaboration with industrial and regulatory partners.

**Skills, Experience & Qualification needed**:

- First degree in Computer Science, Psychology, or cognate discipline
- PhD in Computer Science, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors or equivalent experience
- In-depth knowledge of Human-Computer Interaction and/or Human Factors
- Ability to learn and adapt safety analysis and assurance techniques
- Experience of developing and conducting research studies for AI or robotics systems
- Experience of building and evaluating HCI prototypes
- Ability to work as part of a diverse and multidisciplinary team
