The Human Resources Department is overseen by the Vice Principal (Staffing, Curriculum and Teaching & Learning) and comprises the HR Manager, HR Advisor, HR Assistant and Payroll and Finance Officer who are keen to provide a professional and friendly service and are supportive of each other in fulfilling their roles.

This post is of a generalist HR nature and will be a provide fantastic opportunity for somebody with the right skills and personal qualities who would like to gain invaluable experience of all aspects of HR within a successful Sixth Form College. **Main Terms and Conditions: Support Staff**

**Salary**:The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 13 to 15 currently pro rata to £25,687 to £27,189 per annum.

**Payment of Salary**: Your salary will be paid by BACs transfer into your bank account on the last banking day of the month (except at Christmas when payment is made before the holiday)

**Working hours**:37 hours per week, full year. Starting and finishing times as agreed.

**Holidays**: Holiday entitlement is pro rata to 22 days annual leave plus 8 statutory and 4 concessionary days. After 5 years' continuous services the annual leave entitlement increases to pro rata to 25 days annual leave.

**DBS Clearance**: This post requires Disclosure and Barring Service clearance as well as a range of other safer recruitment checks.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To act as a key point of contact for all HR related queries, providing support and advice to staff, referring to the HR Manager where appropriate.
- To ensure the accurate and timely delivery of administrative services such as formal correspondence to employees relating to terms and conditions of employment and policies/procedures (letter of appointment, employment contracts, leaver documentation, changes to terms and conditions etc.).
- To implement safer recruitment procedures in respect of recruitment/selection of staff and volunteers including assisting in carrying out pre-employment checks.
- Develop and administer the college’s staff perks and benefits package.
- To play an active role in the monitoring, reporting and analysis of key data including but not limited to, induction feedback, staff turnover, gender pay gap data, equality data, salary benchmarking etc. as requested by relevant managers and SLT, providing advice and commentary where appropriate.
- To play a key role in absence management including monthly reporting, monitoring absence levels and provision of advice, provision of support to staff (including occupational health referrals) and supporting in absence management meetings.
- To carry out exit interviews with college leavers and support the evaluation of leavers data.
- Administer maternity and paternity leave.
- Support in the reviewing of job descriptions and person specifications, providing advice and guidance to manager.
- To assist in ad-hoc HR projects, driving the continuous improvement of the department.
- To provide HR support and guidance to The Lancaster University School of Mathematics.
- To support in the college’s staff engagement and wellbeing strategy.
- To assist with casework where necessary.
- To assist in the organisation of staff events.
- To support in the organisation and administration of staff development.
- To keep abreast of legislative changes and external factors that may impact the HR function.
- To liaise with all relevant external agencies to support the HR function.
- To work collaboratively with other departments and functions across college.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

**Person Specification**

**Essential**
- GCSE Grade A*-C/9-4, or equivalent, in Mathematics & English Language
- Educated to level 3

If the applicant doesn’t hold the above qualifications, appropriate experience will be considered as an alternative.
- Experience in a generalist HR role
- Experience of supporting in HR casework and dealing with employee relations issues
- Experience of providing HR advice and guidance to mangers and senior leaders
- Experience of using a HR database
- Experience of working in a busy environment with the ability to respond positively to high work demands
- A good understanding of all aspects of the HR function, including employment law
