An independent, busy, neighbourhood cafe/bar overlooking the River Tyne requires an energetic and 'switched on' front of house shift leader to join our friendly and talented team

We are looking for applicants who are energetic, positive team players, motivated to do a good job and are quick to learn. You will have the personality to give exceptional customer service, know your way around a coffee machine, till system, have at least 1 years front of house/waiting experience and thrive working within a busy café/restaurant/bistro environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the shifts you are working run smoothly, that the team members are performing at their best and are given the right tasks at the right time. You must be motivated by a checklist too () and ensure all the jobs are completed so that the day runs smoothly for everyone You will be able to think on your feet, show initiative and willing to contribute ideas and solutions.

You will be part of a friendly, nurturing team who work hard but enjoy the social aspect of getting to know the customers The company is growing so there is potential for progression within the role should the right person prove themselves to be an asset to the business.

HOURS AND SHIFTS:
22-32 hours approx but we can discuss with you your preferred hours within that range.

We definitely need someone who is available most Friday evenings, Saturday day and Sunday day shifts. We want you trained on how to lead our Burger Night on Friday evenings (cafe closes at 10pm) and also be comfortable leading busy Saturday and Sunday shifts where efficiency and energy are paramount. Ideally if you wanted the upper end of the hours then you would be available on a Monday too.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to pick up extra shifts through the rest of the week and during the holidays you could become full time if desired.

We always work with our team to give fair and balanced shift patterns.

Currently the cafe is open 9am - 6pm Mon-Wed, 9am - 10pm Thurs, Fri & Sat and 10am - 5pm on Sundays.

JOB ROLE:
RENUMERATION

Position available of between 22-32 hrs per week with full contract (with agreed hours
- just tell us if you want more than advertised), 28 days holidays pro rata, staff tips (which work out on average an extra 90p per hour), 20% staff discount, free meals for breaks, free hot drinks, training programme and team building events. We are also registered for the Bike 2 work scheme. Free parking on site. We are also 20mins walk from the Swing Bridge, situation on a great cycle route and also on a bus route to the Metro centre.
