We currently have a permanent vacancy available for an ambitious university admissions administrator, who will play a key role in helping us to convert our international applicants to students.

**Main Activities and Responsibilities**:

- Administer the University’s admissions policies and procedures accurately and consistently while providing excellent service to applicants and colleagues.
- Communicate with applicants, international agents, and Conservatoire international representatives clearly, accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Maintain accurate records using SITS and other systems.
- Plan, manage and prioritise own workload to ensure that deadlines are met, anticipating problems with achievement of objectives and either seeking help or resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Play a full part in the admissions team, maintaining knowledge of the work done by Home admissions officers and the International Office admissions team.
- To be responsible for the successful and efficient operation of the admissions cycle for international applicants to meet the strategic aims of the International Office including meeting targets whilst ensuring regulations and policies are followed.
- To maintain accurate records relating to overseas applicants, to ensure that proper correspondence and documentation are received, acknowledged and are compliant with the UKVI rules.
- To actively pursue outstanding decisions by following up with admissions tutors or applicants themselves for missing documentation, with reference to the Applicants Portal within SITS.
- To actively follow up offer holders, giving guidance to support them in their decision-making process and enabling them to successfully reach the CAS stage.

**Essential Skills**:

- Good general level of education, preferably to first degree level.
- Experience of providing high quality customer service in a complex environment.
- Ability to manage own time and workload effectively while working accurately to tight deadlines in a busy office environment.
- Communication skills: The post holder will communicate information, some of which is complex, to students and colleagues, including providing clear and accurate interpretation of University regulations and policies. This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to flex communication style in order to communicate sensitive or detailed information, some of which may be complex.
- Tact and sensitivity: The post holder will have the ability to deal sensitively and effectively with applicants from a wide range of cultural and international environments, and with applicants who may occasionally be upset or angry.
- Teamwork and collaborative working: the post holder works collaboratively with colleagues in the International Office, Admissions, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and elsewhere to ensure the provision of a responsive, consistent, and effective service. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across different areas and may be required to provide assistance for a variety of programmes and tasks, particularly in support of colleagues at times of peak demand or to help cover holidays and other absence.
- Initiative, problem solving and decision-making: The post holder will resolve day-to-day operational problems where possible and refer those that cannot be resolved to others in a timely manner. In dealing with applicant queries, the post holder will provide reliable advice or resolution where possible and accurately identify those that require referral to other areas.
- Attention to detail and compliance requirements: The post holder will need to show exception attention to detail, and to be aware of the requirements to comply with UK Visa and Immigration regulations as well as GDPR and internal regulations around applicants' personal data.

**Desirable Skills**:

- Experience of a customer-facing role in higher or further education.
- Experience of admissions work.
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills.
