We are seeking to recruit a Youth Counsellor and Wellbeing Practitioner to join our friendly team within Virtual School and Inclusion. This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with positive emotional wellbeing and mental health as part of the North Lincolnshire’s One Family Approach.

We are looking for a dedicated practitioner to provide direct wellbeing support for young people, playing a crucial role as part of a wider team of, Educational Psychologists, Autism Support Education (ASET), Complex Behaviour outreach, Behaviour Support, Education Inclusion Officers, Young Carer Team, Portage and Tuition and Medical Needs.

Our teams primarily work with and in early years and school/ college settings, enabling strong and knowledgeable links about our children and young families.

The post holder will be required to work in partnership with families, colleagues and other professionals across Children and Families and where relevant to the young person’s wellbeing and development, such as CAMHs.

The successful person will have a passion for working with young people and have a warm, friendly personality that is happy to be part of a team but also an ability to work independently within the scope of a counsellor and/ or wellbeing practitioner.

A flexible approach to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing will be crucial and which may include person centred therapy, creative therapeutic approaches as well as cognitive behavioural thinking. The emphasis being on the right way of working with your client/ young person to best support their emotional health and wellbeing.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate relevant experience with young people through training and/ or work experience which may have been gained either through employment as a counsellor or wellbeing practitioner and/ or through their diploma or counselling degree.

Applicants should be relevantly qualified with a counselling or other related qualification for directly supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing and which would be accredited with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), British Psychological Society (BPS) or equivalent (e.g. BA (Hons) Counselling).
