Plant Area Team Leader

In recent years the plant area has grown, both as a footprint and number of team members. Therefore, we are adding a ‘team leader’ role to support the Plant Area Manager with the day to day running of the department.
Management experience isn’t essential as training and support will be offered. We are looking for a motivated, driven and ambitious individual looking for an opportunity to progress within the business. An understanding of the importance of an efficient, organised and creative team is essential.
**Key Duties**
- To support the Plant Area Manager in the management of the day to day operations of the plant area ensuring the highest levels of housekeeping and customer service at all times.
- Assisting in team management through excellent communication, motivating and developing team members.
- Hands on plant maintenance, high quality plant merchandising and coordination of stock and POS.
- Work with other departments within the garden centre to provide a cohesive feel for customers through department integration.
- To deliver inspiring, commercial and current displays/theatre in a timely and organised approach.
- Assisting in co-ordinating Summer watering scheme with plant area team.
- Serve customers with confidence and in a friendly, conversational manor.
- Respond directly to customers, delivering our award-winning level of customer service.
- To maintain high standards of cleanliness and a safe working environment in all areas.
The key duties list is not exhaustive we require you to be flexible and carry out tasks according to the requirements of the company.
**Requirements**:
- Applicants should be pleasant and self-motivated, experience of working in a similar role is preferred.
- A good knowledge of plants and gardening is preferable to be able to interact with and advise customers throughout the day.
- We require you to work bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis.
- Good customer skills and the ability to deal with the public.
- Able to communicate with colleagues, management and the public in the shop and over the phone.
- Well presented.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Lifting and manual work will be required.

- Report to the Plant Area Manager and Senior Management Team.

**Working Hours**:
8.30am-5:30pm (or until duties have been completed), 4 Days per week (plus occasional evening events) Alternate weekend work required.
