My client is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Support Worker to join their team. As a support worker, you will be responsible for providing care and support for children with challenging behaviours in a residential setting in Ashington.
Your role will involve working closely with a team of professionals to ensure the overall well-being and development of the children in your care. You will be responsible for promoting a positive and nurturing environment, helping children to build essential life skills, and managing their challenging behaviours effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing personalized care and support to children in line with their care plans
- Developing and implementing activities to promote positive behaviour and social integration
- Recognizing and addressing the emotional needs of each child
- Assisting with daily routines, including personal hygiene, meal times, and leisure activities
- Collaborating with other professionals, including psychologists, therapists, and social workers to ensure a holistic approach
- Maintaining accurate records of daily activities, progress, and incidents
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children at all times
- Building positive relationships with both children and their families
**Requirements**:
- Relevant experience working with vulnerable children, ideally in a residential setting
- Understanding of challenging behaviours and strategies to manage them effectively
- Ability to work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
- Patience, empathy, and understanding towards children with complex emotional needs
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings

**You need to be fully flexible to work a rota which will include long 12 to 15 hour shifts and sometime a sleep in, (£60 fixed Sleep in rate)**
