**About the role**

Would you like to join the biggest rural youth organisation in Devon? With over 1800 members, the Devon Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (DFYFC) is one of the biggest YFC federations in England and Wales. We offer “fun, learning and achievement” through a jam-packed, varied and exciting annual programme of competitions, sports tournaments, social events, AGRI events and much more. You will join a fun and friendly team of staff and volunteers who work together to organise activities, training opportunities and travel abroad for our membership, aged between 10-28.

The Devon Federation is affiliated to the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) and is run by it’s members for it’s members with support from employed office staff and external board members.

As proud ambassadors of DFYFC, our young volunteer team of County Steering Group Chairs are passionate about all things YFC and need your help to achieve their aspirations and help make their ideas come to life.

You will have regular communication with the volunteer team to help them coordinate:

- Competitions, such as pantomime performances, stockjudging, butter and junket making, and so much more;
- Lots of sports tournaments including beach volleyball, tug of war and hockey;
- Educational AGRI events like farm tours and informative business sessions;
- Social outings aplenty, including the unforgettable Christmas Ball

The role will also require you to look after the Federation’s training programme to ensure courses are scheduled in the diary. You will also manage bookings and help with enquiries about our training offering.

You will work alongside the County Organiser who will support you to achieve your best and you’ll be encouraged to use initiative. Being able to work well in a small team is a must but you will also manage to work efficiently and effectively on your own. In addition to helping the volunteer team, you will provide other admin support to help with the running of the Federation.

The wellbeing of all our members is our priority so you will be approachable, a good listener and always ready to support them. No two days are the same in the county office so you will be prepared for change and be flexible with your workload. Our YFC community is made up of all walks of life so you will need to be comfortable talking to a range of ages and abilities and enjoy a good sense of humour

The Devon Federation owns its own premises in Cheriton Bishop containing our offices where our staff are based. The running costs of the building and staff comes from sponsorship, fundraising, membership and the letting of our surplus office space and meeting rooms.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with County Organiser, Fern Lindsay, if you would like an informal chat about the role. Our county office tel. is 01647 24120.
