Associate Director - Primary Care Directorate - Band 8C

The Associate Director post within North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust is a recently developed post for the expanding Primary Care Directorate. The Associate Director is responsible for the delivery of our primary care services and will work alongside the Clinical Director to ensure we provide ‘outstanding care’.

You will have a proven track record of delivering sustainable services which offer outstanding care in an ever changing dynamic environment. You will have the ability to win the support of your team and stakeholders in order to deliver improved models of care within a primary care setting.

- Provide strong visible leadership across the directorate to ensure high quality, patient focused services.

**Key Duties/Responsibilities**:
1. Strategic Business Planning and Service Development
- Provide expertise and support to the Clinical Director in developing and implementing long term service strategy and policies for the Directorate, including annual, three year and five year business plans that fully reflect the direction and service needs of the Trust. These must be in line with corporate strategies of stakeholders and link directly to relevant legislation as well as national and local healthcare guidance and initiatives.
- Lead and develop market opportunities relating to primary care specifically, supported by the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer.
- Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of broad policies and NHS guidance, contribute to all relevant corporate policies and strategy, developing services locally in line with them.
- Lead and coordinate service objectives ensuring relevance to local and national priorities.
- Lead the development and review of Directorate business plans - the development of appropriate operational, financial, market assessment and workforce plans for the Directorate with the appropriate involvement of managers, clinicians and the wider workforce. Involve service users and carers in the development and planning of services.
- Leads on specific operational and strategic corporate projects, ensuring timely delivery of projects and associated outcomes, with responsibility for embedding those outcomes across the Trust.
- Having Trust-wide responsibility for discrete areas of responsibility, to be agreed with the Executive Director of Operations and/or Deputy Director of Operations. For example, Emergency Planning, Resilience and Response.

1. Service / Operational Management
- Lead and/or contribute to Directorate and Trust projects, delivering these within agreed timeframes and financial targets.
- Identify and help implement relevant legislation in relation to service delivery.
- Ensure the implementation of all Trust policies and procedures within the Directorate.
- Coordinate operational management of the Directorate working closely with other Associate Directors, Service Managers and wider Directorate management teams.
- Plan and implement operational management strategies so as to meet organisational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Provide leadership and direction for departmental managers within the Directorate, ensuring clear communication of policy, business objectives and agreed targets.
