Internal Communications Specialist

**Overview**
It’s a great time to join Screwfix. Thanks to the hard work of our team and record-breaking sales, we’re proud to be one of the fastest-growing retailers in the UK. And we want to pass that growth onto you.
Whether you’re in procurement, digital, marketing or finance, there’s a role for you here.
The next few years are going to be super exciting for Screwfix and how we communicate and connect our 13,000 colleagues with our purpose, plan and people stories will be key. Supporting the Internal Communications Manager, the Internal Communications Specialist role is the link between key stakeholders and departments. Whether that’s running communications projects and campaigns whilst working with key stakeholders to understand the communications requirements and translate them into engaging plans or designing and delivering our weekly newsletter. You’ll be someone with a passion for communications who can bring that passion to life in this role.
We believe that a hybrid, flexible working approach offers you - and your colleagues - the best of both worlds. Face-to-face collaboration is an integral part of our warm, friendly culture, so you’ll work from our head office three days a week, working flexibly around our core working hours of 10am-3pm. Beyond that, how, when and where you work is up to you. With a subsidised canteen, free parking and a comfortable, relaxed environment, we’ve worked hard to build an office you’ll want to work in. We also know that, when it comes to school pick-ups and home deliveries, it’s nice to have the flexibility to do both.
**Key responsibilities**
- Work with the Internal Communications Manager to deliver the day-to-day communications plan delivering our key business and people stories such as business growth priorities, sustainability campaigns, through to internal events such as our Quarterly Business Updates and Head Office Events.
- Support the internal communications longer term strategy, ensuring that all communications delivered are working towards it.
- Own and deliver colleague communications campaigns from start to finish, taking accountability for effective delivery across our key channels.
- Act as a key point of contact and advisor on communications to make sure it meets the right tone of voice and requirements for our brand and culture.
- Business partner with key stakeholders at all levels including Directors, cross departments, to align on communications to ensure consistent clear messaging and branding across all communications channels.
- Work closely with our key communications contacts across the Customer Service Centre, Trade Counters and Employer Brand team to ensure synergy in our communications.
- Collaborate with our internal creative design agency, and external agencies to develop and produce materials for campaigns including print, digital and video.
- Produce communications analytics for key campaigns, using insight to identify and share the most effective format and channels to maximise engagement for future campaigns.
- Share ideas and provide recommendations for improvements to day-to-day communications and channels based on identified measured effectiveness.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in communication.
- Consider accessibility, using an Inclusion lens in all communications that you deliver.
**Required skills & experience**
- Background in internal colleague communications, marketing communications, PR or design for digital and print.
- Highly skilled in written and verbal communications with an ability to adapt to different audiences across the business in an approachable manner.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build multi-channel communications plans with KPIs.
- Experience in design or artworking - preferably InDesign and Photoshop - with demonstrable skills - desirable, can be trained if required.
- Knowledge in filming and video editing skills - desirable, can be trained if required.
- Experience using Microsoft SharePoint and Viva Engage - desirable, can be trained if required.
- Creative flair with great ideas and vision.
- Resilient and adaptable to change.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
