Researcher in Metastatic Breast Cancer and Physical

Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Hallam University Full time

**The Role**

This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a thriving research group, delivering impactful real-world research.

As a researcher, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced researchers in multidisciplinary teams on a variety research and consultancy projects within the Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Public Health Research Group (PAWPH). This project will mainly be working on a funded project examining support tools for people with metastatic breast cancer and role of interventions such as Physical Activity within those.

We believe in enabling our staff to develop and grow their own research interests alongside the PAWPH and SHU mission. This may involve highlighting funding opportunities, leading on smaller projects and contributing to bids, publications and conference communications.

The research group currently works in a hybrid environment, where researchers are expected to be on-site when their duties require it, and to work from where they work best at other times.

Wellbeing is part of who we are as a group, and we actively encourage staff to lead by example and look after their own health and wellbeing.

**Physical Activity Wellbeing and Public Health Research Group (PAWPH)**

The PAWPH research group (formerly the Centre for Sport and Exercise Science), was re-branded in 2019, with a clear focus on health and wellbeing.

**_‘'To establish a world-leading profile for conducting impactful person-centred research that supports people to lead healthy, happy and active lives through the prevention and management of chronic disease”._**

Key areas of clinical interest for the group are population health, cancer, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular disease and neurological conditions.

The research group is part of the Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre (SPARC) and has strong links with and is based at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC), a world-class research facility dedicated to improving health and well-being through movement.

The PAWPH group delivers on many high profile and impactful research projects, funded by organisations including NIHR, UKRI, MS Society, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Cancer Alliance, Sport England, commercial partners ranging from small and medium sized enterprises to multi-national companies.

**Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre (SPARC)**

SPARC is the research hub of the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity (ASPA) and houses four specialist research groups:

- Physical Activity, Wellness and Public Health (PAWPH)
- Sport and Human Performance Research Group (S&HP)
- Sport Industry Research Group (SIRG)
- Sport Engineering Research Group (SERG).

These research groups have been developed as part of the integration with the existing ASPA team to increase the culture of research-informed academic delivery and to enhance collaborative research opportunities, building on existing international reputations.

The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant.
