Lecturer in Multi-camera Television Production

Applications are invited for a full-time Lectureship in Multi-Camera Television Production, available from 1 August 2024. This position will be appointed on either a teaching and scholarship (T&S) or research and teaching (ART) contract.

**Role**:
You will play a significant role in the design and delivery of multi-camera television studio teaching including contributing to modules for our ScreenSkills-accredited BSc in Film and Television Production and MA in Film and Television Production, which has variants in Editing, Directing, Producing, Cinematography and Sound. You will also be involved in the supervision of students as well as undertaking administrative responsibilities in the School. In addition:

- For a teaching and scholarship (T&S) contract: you will exhibit professional work through commercial outlets and/or disseminate related scholarship through conventional channels, and devise, develop and oversee projects generating external production funding.
- For a research and teaching (ART) contract: you will carry out and publish high impact research in quality journals, and devise, direct and develop projects generating external research funding.

**Skills, Experience & Qualification needed**:
You will have:
- detailed knowledge and experience of current industry practice and working in academia
- ambition to make an impact in your field
- internationally-relevant scholarship through either professional practice or academic research
- an ability to inspire students through innovative teaching

You will ideally have demonstrated:

- Expertise in multi-camera TV production with credits for nationally or internationally released commercial television content in one of more of the following areas:

- Light entertainment (game shows, quiz shows, talk shows, variety, comedy, music, etc.)
- Scripted content, including continuing drama (soap) or sitcom
- Live broadcast (sports, news, reality programming, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of multi-camera television roles and processes more generally. For example, directing, vision mixing, EVS, broadcast engineering, sound, etc.

A PhD in Film and Television (ideally with an emphasis on multi-camera TV production) or equivalent professional industry experience is essential. In addition, experience in emerging technologies such as Virtual Production (VP) is highly desirable.
