There are around 980 pupils, boys 7-18 and Sixth Form Girls, and 200 staff who learn and work on the school’s central Oxford site.

**The Role**:
The school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable Maintenance Operatives to provide essential day-to-day maintenance support within our busy and thriving Maintenance department.

Maintenance Operatives will work in a wider team as well as independently as required to deliver a professional facilities management service that supports the needs of the School.
- Completion of routine maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor
- Undertaking of planned maintenance checks to buildings, mechanical and electrical services
- Daily room set-up for events and assemblies; heavy lifting involved
- Working closely with the Maintenance team, Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and Head Caretaker to participate in some of the School’s out of hours’ rota and holiday cover for the Caretaking Team.

General duties on a rota basis, to include, but not be restricted to: litter picking, post-delivery and unlocking of rooms
- Some maintenance skills, either professionally or as a DIY enthusiast
- Experience of working with electrical installations and controls, especially in respect of fault finding for boilers and pumps
- A calm, helpful manner with a can-do attitude whilst delivering high standards work
- An ability to self-organise and meet deadlines while working under pressure with mínimal supervision
- An ability to act with tact and diplomacy and under pressure, with a willingness and ability to develop working relationships with individuals from a variety of situations and backgrounds
- Willingness to undertake Health & Safety and other relevant training

The salary is £25,979 per annum (plus a salary uplift in September). The basic working hours are 40 hours per week: 08:00 -17:00, Mon-Fri with one hour (unpaid) for lunch. Maintenance Operative will also be required to be available on certain evenings and weekends when the workload demands it. Such additional work will be remunerated.

Permanent non-teaching staff are automatically enrolled in the school’s contributory Group Pension Scheme. This is a defined contribution pension scheme into which the employee contributes 5% of gross salary and the employer contributes 10%.

The school has a fully equipped gym which is available for staff use, and staff may also enjoy access to the University of Oxford’s Rosenblatt Swimming Pool. Tennis courts are available, and there is a comprehensive programme of staff sports clubs, including football, climbing, yoga, Pilates, and badminton. Staff also have the opportunity to join choirs and music groups, and to get involved in drama productions. Staff socials, guest nights and Master’s Drinks are regular features of each term.
