**Introduction**

The House of Commons Communications Office is responsible for the House of Commons communications strategy, as well as overseeing internal and external communications functions. This role sits in the Digital Communications Team. While it sits within the House of Commons Communications Office, this role is joint funded by the House of Lords and works in close partnership with the House of Lords Communications team.

The Digital Communications Team manages the social media channels for UK Parliament, the House of Commons and the House of Commons Speaker. The team also has oversight of House of Commons news on the parliament.uk website.

The team is responsible for videography and photography for internal and external communication channels and for significant Parliamentary events.

**The Role**

This is a great time to join the House of Commons Communications office as we launch our new communications strategy.

This role will be pivotal in helping the Digital Communications Team keep pace with a changing communications landscape.

This role will have responsibility for developing and delivering innovative, accessible video and digital content for the House of Commons, House of Lords and UK Parliament digital channels.

We are looking for an individual who has excellent video production skills and an interest in social media. You will also have a passion to explain the work of Parliament to diverse audiences.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

- Develop innovative multi-media, digital content plans for specific campaigns and events. You will manage and create engaging and accessible content for UK Parliament, the House of Commons and the House of Lords as needed.
- Plan and storyboard video concepts, thinking creatively on how to engage digital audiences using compelling visual story telling.
- Execute high quality video filming using the right tools for the required situation to a high standard. This will include mobile phones, professional video cameras, gimbals, and audio recording equipment.

**Skills and Experience**
- Ability to create innovative and accessible social media content and short video, including targeting a diverse range of audiences and the ability to adapt and design content to appeal to people from a broad range of backgrounds.
- Excellent video production skills with experience crafting video for social media and other digital outputs along with a high proficiency utilising video cameras and editing software.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience of working inclusively and collaboratively with diverse colleagues and stakeholders.
- An understanding of parliamentary procedure and the difference between Parliament and Government, with experience of exercising political awareness and providing impartial information.
