Job Purpose
The role will join the Indirect Tax compliance team that are responsible for the completion and submission of all Indirect tax returns and compliance requirements in the UK and EMEA markets the group operate in. Working as a team utilising outsource providersand other external VAT consultants in countries where appropriate ensure accurate indirect tax compliance is met. They will be the first point of contact for the Centre of Excellence and wider business for Indirect Tax compliance issues.
The role holder will also develop existing process documentation to meet standards expected of a large global organisation
Key Accountabilities
Returns & Reconciliations
Prepare EMEA Indirect Tax returns to ensure accuracy and meeting submission deadlines
Ensure that potential issues are identified and followed up in a timely manner
Act as liaison between outsourced providers, local finance teams and Centre of Excellence teams, ensuring that issues & questions are properly resolved by the appropriate parties.
Provide a a stop-gap resource when there is risk of non-compliance due to short-term circumstances with other indirect tax returns
Support GSBS with VAT General Ledger reconciliations and resolve reconciling differences
Liaise with Finance teams to ensure that basic Finance processes such as payment preparation, journals and input of data are completed on a timely and complete basis
Co-ordinate the transition of new rules into the indirect tax process working with outsourced providers the business into the outsourced (KPMG HU) process
Other general VAT related tasks and reports upon need
Compliance
Administer compliance questions ensuring that relevant options are reviewed, documented and recommendations are developed
Build up process documentation and controls in the Indirect tax returns to meet internal requirements
Analysis and support with implementation of changes to VAT legislation
Continuous Improvement
Where issues and questions result in CI or other projects, provide input to ensure that compliance is maintained
Drive the identification and initiation of Continuous Improvement activities, to exploit opportunities within COE or local Finance team processes, as identified through returns or legislative changes.
Oversee Indirect Tax testing for changes to the configuration of SAP systems and their implications for indirect tax compliance and reporting.
Other
Support Tax function and business in analysis to resolve any queries from authorities or local Finance
Scope of the Role
This role will report into the VP Group Tax and will be a member of a small team which is predominantly based in Corby. There is no direct line management responsibility for this role
Ensure compliance with UK and EU indirect tax filing requirements
Although there is no direct budget responsibility the role holder must keep within defined boundaries of expenditure, managing the engagements with external advisers
