Southport, United Kingdom Axcis Education Full time

Axcis are pleased to be working with a mainstream primary school, who are seeking a teaching assistant to join their team on a supply basis. This would be a full time position, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm until the end of the academic year. There is potential for a permanent position for the right applicant.

The role involves working 1-1 with a year 5 pupil with complex needs. This pupil was involved in a serious accident back in May and is still in his recuperation period. He will need access to reasonable adjustments and support while in school, such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The pupil uses a manual wheelchair to help support his mobility and fatigue, but he will transfer into a chair while in the classroom. There is personal care required as part of this. The student is absolutely lovely and there are no behavioural issues, though he can be frustrated when he is unable to join in activities with his friends.

This position is based in a mid-sized mainstream primary school in Southport. It was rated as 'good' in its most recent OFSTED inspection with positive feedback given for the atmosphere within the school. There are excellent public transport links within a 5 minute walk of the school. There is a car park on site for staff.

To be considered for this role, you must have experience working with physical disabilities in some form, ideally with children. Previous school based experience is preferred but is not essential. You must be prepared to be provide personal care. You will require a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification for this position. If you do not have one, Axcis can enrol you on a course free of charge to complete this. This role would suit applicants coming from a care background due to the personal care and mobility needs of this pupil.
