**The Role**
You are a critical part of the product and process team; you will have the opportunity to really bring our new projects to life You truly will be managing a project at the start of its journey You will work closely with sales and marketing during the gated phase of EPD & NPD project design.
As the project commences progresses to launch you will work closely with operations and supply chain functions to ensure a successful launch.
**Key Accountabilities**
General Responsibility:
- Build packaging technology knowledge and experience to become IPN’s “go to” packaging expert
- Be responsible for all packaging aspects of the Thirsk and Kinmel production sites
Specifications/Supplier Assurance:
- Maintain all packaging specifications and originate any new specifications as required
- Maintain supplier self-assessment audit questionnaires, supplier audit certification, relevant documentation and migration testing certification for each packaging substrate
- Establish relevance to holding colour standards for key designs for checking print run quality and attending first print runs where required
EPD & NPD Development Process:
- Working alongside the operation and process team to provide ‘feet on the floor’ support operational packaging trials, covering ‘blending, weighing, filling, sealing, collation, wrapping and palletisation’.
- Owning the output of operational packaging trials, ensure actions which are required are completed to a satisfactory outcome.
- Working alongside marketing, sales and nutritional teams to support and coach the NPD and EPD process when scoping and planning changes to existing and new packaging formats.
Artwork/Packaging Design:
- Own and develop the end-to-end packaging development process
- Coordinate input from colleagues as required to determine bag/box sizing for NPD
- Establish and manage potential cost saving projects ref margin or performance improvements
- Define the requirements for new packaging, liaising with all internal departments.
**Required Experience**
- Degree in Packaging highly preferred.
- Significant experience in packaging, food industry or pet food/feed experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Form, Fill, Seal (FFS) technology and packaging food law compliance would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of packaging equipment and materials.

**Bonus**: up to 10% of annual salary
**Hours**:40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 0830 - 1700
**Pension Scheme**: NEST pension scheme Employee contributions 8% / Employer contribution 3%
