**About the role**:
Charlton Kings Care Home is one of the leading care homes in Cheltenham. Our dedicated team delivers a high standard of care, making sure residents maintain their independence and are part of a positive environment. Types of professional care include residential, dementia and respite care.

**Cooks **are a valuable part of our team, supplying appropriate food for all residents in the home.

As a **Cook,** you will be responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures of the systems relevant to the provision of food are kept up to date with the practices in the home.

When you join us as a **Cook** you are making a difference by analysing residents’ needs and planning meals to ensure that the nutritional needs of all the residents are met.

**Responsibilities include**:

- To ensure that food is served in an appropriate and safe manner
- To be involved in the hiring of kitchen staff to ensure that they are of an appropriate quality for the role
- To take responsibility for the health and safety of staff residents and visitors, with regard to the equipment and environment of the kitchen and stock areas
- To take control of the ordering of food and maintaining sufficient stock levels in the absence of a Kitchen Lead
- To ensure that appropriate records are kept to evidence that nutritional needs are being met
- To maintain kitchen policies and procedures that are in line with current best practices, and highly efficient
- Promoting our resident’s choice, dignity and independence and all times
