We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking person to join our combined Acute Care Unit C/ Hyper acute Stroke Unit (ACUC/HASU) team in Cheltenham as a Healthcare Assistant. ACUC/HASU is involved in the assessment and treatment of patients with a variety of General Medical conditions as well as hyper acute strokes.

Previous experience in providing personal care is essential as well as having worked in a clinical/hospital environment.

As a Healthcare Assistant you will be involved in direct patient care including:

- Washing and dressing patients, both male and female
- Supporting at meal times to encourage and promote self-feeding where appropriate
- Assisting with walking
- Providing dignity to both male and female patients whilst toileting, this may require cleaning/disposing of bodily fluids
- Bed making
- Ensuring patients feel comfortable and cared for.
- Monitoring patients’ conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respiration and weight.
- Recording ECGs.
- Taking blood sugars.
