**Stores Controller**
Our client is looking for an experienced proactive, practical and results orientated Stores Controller. They have a fleet of 100 vehicles at their Preston depot, which this role will ensure are maintained efficiently.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for the efficient and effective day to day running of the stores department, supporting the engineering department in achieving service delivery targets. You will need to prioritisethe purchasing/ordering and delivery of parts/services in a timely and cost-effective manner, ensuring best price is achieved. Our client has introduced a new fleet management system into the department - Freeway. Communication and teamwork is essential inidentifying and resolving day to day stores issues, providing updates and escalating key issues or concerns to the Engineering Manager, in a timely manner with a proactive focus and solution/ideas-based approach.
The hours of work will be 07:30-16:00
**Key Accountabilities**
- Ordering of parts, ensuring priority 1 parts are ordered at the earliest opportunity, and at least same day and ensure all orders are raised with purchase orders and logged on auto-generated procurement system.
- Recording parts received, processing delivery notes, checking verification all items have been received, completing initial quality check on day of arrival and storage of all parts received in a timely manner and in correct locations.
- Confirm auto-reorder function of parts/stock allocated to jobs, checking the minimum and maximum stock levels look correct and qualify whether levels should be amended to ensure sufficient stock levels available, to meet service delivery needs (using procurementdata to make informed decisions).
- Verify any delivery notes/invoices for services have been completed as detailed, process for payment or raise any queries.
- Issuing parts to engineers as requested and per job card ensuring all booking out procedures are followed.
- Liaise with Engineering Managers/Shift supervisors to ensure effective communication at all times with engineers/traffic office staff at all relevant depots and a handover between shifts.
- Monitor and manage stock usage to agreed minimum stock levels as agreed with the Engineering Manager.
- Provide weekly parts spend report to the Engineering Manager/Regional Engineering Manager/Regional Director and Managing Director.
- Ensure all documentation is supplied to the accounts department in a timely manner for accurate processing and financial recording.
- Provide accurate information on supplier account credit limits.
- Address any queries timely but a minimum of weekly, which may affect the credit status of a supplier account liaising with suppliers and accounts department.
- Responsible for processing surcharge returns of any unused or incorrect parts within specified timeframes to prevent non-refund.
- New supplier set up on procurement system.
- Responsible for processing warranty claims in accordance with specified timeframes to prevent any recharge issues.
- Monthly (last day of the month) fuel stock check.
- Ensure and complete all annual certification tests are completed within date by contractors relating to Brake Testers/Loler related items such as lifts/torque wrenches/PAT testing and pneumatic equipment.
- Manage direct reports in a fair and constructive manner.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- 2 years previous experience in a Store Manager role
- Excellent working knowledge of stores department and procedures
- Strong people management and leadership skills, capable of motivating and maintaining discipline with own stores personnel
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- An appropriate level of IT skills
