**Typical duties will be**:

- Managing our clients to ensure payment to the agreed terms including negotiating payment plans
- Preparing and issuing statements and debtor letters in line with the Firm’s policy and procedures
- Maintaining accurate records of all chasing activity and agreed payment timescales
- Liaising with fee earners to aid the collection process
- Liaise with the Insolvency Department once the litigation process has begun.
- Responding promptly to all queries received from clients and fee earners as well as discussing queries with the compliance department
- Processing card payments
- Posting bills and transferring costs raised by others
- Assistance in processing and approving outgoing payments
- Ledger reconciliation of client matters
- Undertaking other ad hoc duties as required by the Finance team

**Skills and experience**:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Commercially aware
- Proven credit control experience
- Confidence and persistence in chasing difficult aged debts
- Strong attention to detail
- Good organisation and planning skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet strict timescales where required
- Experience of financial systems
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to work as part of a team

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working within the legal sector
- Knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules
