Portobello-RMF specialises in mechanical design, thermal design and fabrication of process plant equipment. Our skilled expertise applies to a broad range of equipment, such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, skid packages, pipework and other bespoke, special and high integrity fabrications, all to meet the requirements of International Design Codes, ASME, EN13445, PD5500 and client specifications.

**Job Summary**

As Project Buyer you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

- Working responsibly and safely in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Management System.
- Working in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers to define procurement requirements and develop project-specific procurement strategies.
- Conduct market research to identify potential vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project requirements and standards.
- Evaluate and select vendors based on their capabilities, reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate contracts and terms of agreements with vendors, ensuring favourable pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
- Manage the procurement process from order placement to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate order placement, tracking, and expediting.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve any issues or disputes, and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Continuously identify opportunities to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between procurement activities and project milestones.
- Communicating expectations to the Project / Production team.
- Maintaining and building new supplier relationships.
- Any and all other responsibilities required to ensure the successful completion of projects within the Company.

**Desirable Skills**

A strong understanding of health and safety requirements.

Proven experience as a Project Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or in a similar role, preferably within the Engineering Industry

Preferably be able to demonstrate capability in the reading and understanding of engineering drawings.

Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supply chain management.

Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and the ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Proficient in using procurement software and MS Office Suite.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

An ability to work under pressure and make difficult decisions required to achieve project objectives.

An ability to work independently and as a team.

MCIPS Qualification - not essential.

A full driving license will be required due to the role that is being advertised.

Knowledge of the industry is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
