2fawcett are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our esteemed client as a Buyer. As a key member of the purchasing team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless procurement of technical goods.
As a market leader in the Mechanical and Electrical field the Buyer will collaborate with our procurement office to ensure that suppliers and subcontractors. Your responsibilities will be pivotal in maintaining operational efficiency, supporting ongoing projects, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Liaising with key colleagues and forecasting levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels.
- Negotiating pricing contracts with subcontractors and materials suppliers.
- Converting requisitions raised by internal colleagues to purchase orders and issuing to suppliers after completing price check analysis.
- Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive supplier database to support business needs.
- Negotiating and agreeing contracts.
- Analysing purchasing trends and maximising cost saving opportunities.
- Cultivate and sustain professional relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to enhance cost-effectiveness, quality, and continuity of supply.
- Arranging supplier review meetings and ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives.
- Accurately maintain current inventory list.
- Ordering hire equipment to site based on requirement of the project team and ensuring all purchases are managed effectively
- Proven background in buying electrical and mechanical components in the engineering or manufacturing sector.
- Professional Certifications/Member of CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).
- Proficiency in negotiation, securing favorable terms and conditions.
- IT systems proficiency, with knowledge of SAP considered an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills.
- Systematic, logical, and organized approach to managing a high-volume workload.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain professionalism.
- Familiarity with reading engineering drawings or BOM is beneficial.
- Attention to detail and ability to provide quality information within deadlines.
