A leading events business are recruiting a Group Financial Controller on a 12-month contract. The Group Financial Controller role and is a high-profile position within the business. There will be significant exposure at board and executive level, with inputand influence over all areas of finance.

The interim group financial controller will be a key partner to the CFO and lead all aspects of the Financial Accounting department. This is a hands-on position with financial control and technical accounting a top business priority. The role is focusedon maintaining and developing accurate accounting practices and procedures across the business and leading a team to deliver key business goals.

The role will be accountable for the day to day running of finance, ensuring the team works diligently, efficiently, and accurately. You will be expected to lead the finance function making changes and improvements where necessary and be an effective partnerto the business and the board. You will also be responsible for maintaining and developing the overall relationship between finance and the business providing trust and positive lines of communication with non-financial departments.

You will have proven experience in a similar role within a fast-pace and entrepreneurial environment ideally within a project-based business. Experience with international subsidiaries is essential with the Group having entities in the UK, Europe, US, MiddleEast and Australia. As a strong communicator, you will have the ability to hit the ground running quickly and be able to motivate and develop your team to deliver their goals, as well as working within a wider finance community.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all financial control and technical accounting matters
- Oversee financial operations and controls in different geographical locations
- Overall responsibility for month-end close process
- Manage cash flow and report on it at an operational level including overseas purchasing and payables functions
- Produce cash flow monitoring report with weekly updates
- Responsible for asset financing relationships and calculations
- Preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and any local statutory reporting
- Responsible for audit and liaison with auditors in conjunction with the CFO
- Oversee monthly local payroll and liaison with overseas local payroll providers
- Manage AR/AP function and review
- Responsible for all tax compliance and provide tax advice on an ad hoc basis locally and internationally and in conjunction with external special advisors
- Produce VAT return and compliance on VAT and HMRC matters
- Manage the administration of the ERP system (Netsuite)
- Produce forecasts and budgets in conjunction with the CFO and Head of Management Accounting
- Support on company secretarial and compliance matter in conjunction with local advisors
- Managing the Finance team
- Work closely with the Head of Management Accounting and the Project accounting team to support the wider business
- Ad hoc project work

Experience & Qualifications Required
- Fully qualified Accountant e.g. ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
- Need to be able to operate with a hands on and proactive approach
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Experience operating in an international environment
- Prior experience working with different accounting software and systems. Preferably with NetSuite
- Ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders including stakeholders such as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors
