- Job description- This is an exciting time to join our Waste teams
We’re looking for professional, knowledgeable individuals with experience of Environmental Permitting regulations and knowledge of waste industry sectors. You’ll lead/advise on the regulation and enforcement of high risk or priority sites.
Our teams will be supported through your technical leadership to achieve better permit compliance securing better protection of the environment.‎
Provide specialist guidance to operational teams/customers, keeping up to date with changing legislation and best practice.
- Provide technical leadership on a named specialism, develop business work plans to ensure delivery.
- Develop a safety conscious culture to deliver regulatory work, minimising risks to the health and safety of the team or other individuals, be a role model for the behaviours and cultures of the Environment Agency.
The team- Our regulatory teams work in geographical areas with a strong emphasis on working as one to deliver priorities and outcomes. You will be part of a team who perform a wide range of regulatory work including compliance at permitted waste sites, reducing the number of high-risk fire sites, hazardous waste regulation and enforcement of environmental offences. We often work with members of the public/partners to resolve complex problems and deliver environmental interventions and outcomes.
- Experience/skills required- We are looking for someone who has:

- Proven ability and regulatory experience at securing environmental compliance, outcomes, and improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to interpret complex technical guidance and to translate these into practical solutions for customers, colleagues, and the environment.
- Knowledge and experience of Landfill operations would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage a challenging workload, taking ownership of tasks and with sometimes unexpected and conflicting deadlines.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring others.
- Experience of delivering environmental compliance and/or environmental outcomes in accordance with a relevant legislative regime.
- Work with Team Leaders, Officers, and technical leaders to drive performance, and provide technical leadership to meet our KPIs and Local Outcome Plan measures.

You will hold an honours degree (or equivalent), ideally in a science or engineering discipline or relevant work experience.
The role will require travel and a driving licence is required.
