We are seeking a Behaviour & Attendance Support Practitioner to join the Specialist Provision Team within the Education Support, Behaviour & Attendance Service (ESBAS), part of the innovative Inclusion, Special Educational Needs and Disability Service (ISEND). The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work directly with children, their families and schools to support the national priorities of improving school attendance and reducing school exclusions.

Your primary focus will be to work directly with individual children, their families and schools to support them to engage positively in education within the legislative framework that underpins the work of ESBAS.

As part of an existing team of experienced staff, you will work alongside professionals to draw up and deliver bespoke packages of support. This will involve mentoring the pupil, as well as working with the family and school to establish positive, effective working relationships, which will lead to improved educational outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to learn about East Sussex’s Therapeutic Thinking approach to inclusion, which focuses on how to support all children and young people, particularly in terms of their emotional wellbeing and mental health. You will use this approach and the tools within it to support children and young people at risk of exclusions and low school attendance.

We are looking for a skilled practitioner with a genuine interest in this area, who is experienced in working within an educational setting to support positive behaviour, attendance and engagement with learning. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with children, young people, families and school staff. Further to this, you will have demonstrable skills in:
This role is within the Specialist School Provision and the main responsibilities are outlined in the Appendices of the Job Description.

The post is based a county wide post, with your base being at County Hall Lewes, with flexibility for some home working as part of a hybrid working model. You will work as part of an existing team and be supported through regular supervisions, case discussions and peer support.
